| F.A.Q.‘s Frequently Asked Questions Home Team Power Clean www.HomeTeamEZ.com http:www.FaceBook.com/HomeTeamPowerClean (269) 660-1820 Brian@HomeTeamEZ.com Q. How often should I have my Deck Maintenance performed, and my Home Washed? A. We follow manufacturer’s recommendations which is every two years, but on a personal note I have always liked to have my house freshly washed in the spring and fall, every year. Also due to the developing information regarding the amount of arsenic that leaches from treated deck and fence wood, some folks like to have their decks cleaned and sealed every year. Now I have HOMES, builings, decks, wooden, and composite, plus concret drives and walks, that get washed every Year CLEAN IS BETTER! Q. I have a lot of time and money invested in my landscaping, does this hurt my plants, flowers or bushes? A. This is a very common question For the most part the answer is no. We are realist, so I want to tell you we have seen a couple of flowers turn brown, and a patch of grass also, probably from a soap spill that did not get caught in time. Here is how we address the plants; typically we wet down all the foliage thoroughly before, during and after the process. That is enough to prevent damage, but to be sure, you can help by watering your yard, flowers, bushes, etc, very well for a couple of days ahead of time. If they are well fed then they wont need to drink our cleaning products if some doesn’t get rinsed off quick enough. It’s a simple step to lessen the chance of a brown out occurring. Tip: always keep your plants and bushes trimmed back away from the home or deck surface for extended life. Q. What about windows? Do you wash them, or will I have to have them washed when you are done? A. Occasionally. We do wash them, now, if you have screens on the outside, we will pre-soak and thoroughly rinse the windows and screens. This also cleans the screens at the same time we are washing the siding. If there are no screens on the windows, they get brushed with a soft brush and rinsed. This leaves a nice shine. Now in both cases , it boils down to the hardness of the water at your outside water hose. We take that water and run it through our on board water softening system, then back out to the home surface. Have you ever tried to wash a part of your home with a hose, and it just ends up looking dull, or brownish? Its probably because of the hard water at the tap. We rinse over and over to insure we don’t leave soap residue. I have had it go both ways because hard water leaves spots, and feel that realistic expectations are better than shaky promises. Most often nothing needs to be done to the windows after we wash them.
Q. Do you have Insurance? A. Yes, good question a lot of contractors hope you wont ask, we have been insured since 1997.
Q. I have never used your service before how do I know you will do a good job? A. I recommend that before hiring a service provider for the first time you check with the Better Business Bureau. Do this to check the company’s rating, the complaint history, and length of time in business. having said that , we have been in good standing since the beginning, due to our customer focus, and quality guidelines, in this business there is no substitute for experience. The BBB is an unbiased not for profit. (www.facebook.com/HomeTeamPowerClean, Angies list, Service Magic.) I have opened all of these so we can be sure to get you're feedback, both good and bad, if neccessary)
Q. How much water pressure will you be using to wash my house or deck? A. Good question. Too much pressure applied to a surface can do a great deal of damage and is why it is critical to find a Contractor that has experience. We have a Pressure control right on our cleaning wand, and depending on the surface we can run up to 4000 PSI (too reach high areas) or as low as garden hose pressure (such as around windows) Now days it is more about the science, than the power. A little finesse goes a long way toward coaxing your surface clean with the proper cleaners.
Q. I worry about having strangers come to my home. Do you need to enter my home for any reason?A. We are very attentive to that concern, and for the most part there is never a need for us to come into your home, for powerwashing services. We are completely self contained service company, that relies on satisfied customers and referrals. I would encourage everyone to be cautious. Part of the reason we started Home Team was due to some interesting “customer service” experiences we had when people came to do work at our home. We always Practice, courtiouse, respectfull, behavior, when cleaning, carpet, upholstery, and tile, inside your home. If you ever feel that anything less than total professionalism was practiced, please contact Brian@hometeamez.com Q. I have a greenish brown moldy looking growth on the North side of my house, and I couldn’t reach the top even if I knew how to clean it…can you fix this? A. Yes! That is one of our primary functions. Depending on where you live, it could be mold, mildew or algae. Either way, its one of the things we remove and kill for you. We now use the latest chlorinated algae killing products made specifically for this problem. Wait until you see the difference! The growth occurres naturally where the sun doesn’t dry the moisture off your home as fast as it does in other places. It is common in this area. *(Tip: some wood mulches can produce an “Artillery fungus” tiny black dots that are stuck to the surface like concrete. There is no known cure for it yet, so if this occurs you may want to move mulch away from surfaces that need to be kept clean). Decorative stones seem to be the preferred replacement, and works well. Q. I’ve tried everything to get the black streaks off my gutters, do you have a way to make them clean and white again?
A. YES. Make sure you ask this of your potential home washer! It takes a combination of the proper cleaner and most often there is no substitute for elbow grease, and good old fashioned scrub brushing. A lot of the black streaks are caused by the asphalt in roofing shingles, and yes we have a process to fix this. We feel like this is one of the many things that separate us from the rest. Not a lot of people know how to get good results with gutters, and they may try to gloss over the problem.
Q I hear that you also wash concrete sidewalks and driveways, why would I want to do that?
A. Just wait until you see the difference. Again, check the web site for examples! www.HomeTeamEZ.com and NOW, also FACEBOOK. (click on photos, then :see all photos: there are around 60 or 70. If you are putting your home on the market, don’t miss that chance to make the PERFECT FIRST IMPRESSION! Clean and fresh, makes your home look NEWER!!! Q. I saw you washing a huge apartment building the other day, do you wash double wide Park Model Homes? A. And single wide’s! Big and small. Yes cliché, but we wash it all. Q. My Friend, neighbor,or handyman, says they would do my job for a little less than Home Team. I always choose the lowest priced provider…why should I choose Home Team? A. That’s okay, but be aware some things even we cant fix after they are done. We are not aware of anyone in our service area that has the same experience we do. Most often I am amazed at how expensive the latest new company (or person) is. Everyone likely starts the same way, with little or no experience. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Chances are, we have serviced your neighbors. Ask around. We treat our customers well. Without their referrals and yours, we could not exist. Then of course there is www.bbb.org COMPARE OUR RATINGS! Some contractors have actually been revoked or disqualified ! Its an interesting read, no matter what type of service you are interested in checking on. And its FREE! . It is good to ask Your Estimator/Cleaner a few things. This you will determine whether or not you are comfortable with your Contractors, or their answers. Some important questions include; A) Do they have a D.E.Q. discharge permit? (Dept of Environmental Quality) most washers have never even heard of this. It IS required to wash in Michigan! B) Insured? C) How much experience do they have/how long have they been in business? (lets not experiment, or learn how to work at YOU'RE home!!) D) Do they pay income taxes on every job? We use triplicate, sequential numbered invioces, for record keeping. The top copy is yours to keep. E) Are they members of any organizations that hold them to a list of quality standards, and Customer Satisfaction Procedures/Policy’s? (IE: BBB, Angies list, Service Magic, etc.) F) How about water hardness, Hard water does not clean very well and spots and streaks. Make sure they run you're water thru a softener, BEFORE it goes on your home or particular cleaning project. (pressure washing only) G) Check out thier reputation if you have time and the resourses, Just "Google" the business name and see what pops up. and ask friends and family. F.) Just remember, HIGH Pressure is not always the answer, proper washing these days is in the science just as well. Speaking of pressure if you feel pressured to let someone wash for you, it could be a sign to back off and wait to schedule your work. Just tell them you need to speak to a friend (spouse, payer, etc) first you can always call them back. We feel these are very basic requirements, that should be met by anyone intending to Charge you for their services
Q. How much does it cost? A. Every Powerwashing task is a little different and we learned many years ago not to attempt to bid powerwashing without seeing it first. There is never a charge to look at your project if it is in our normal service area, and you will know exactly what it will cost to make your home very clean or your deck renewed. If we have made a bid mistake we never add to the existing job cost. Now if additional work is requested, then of course the fee will change. We want your business, But we don’t like high pressure sales tactics, and Home Team will never use them to obtain work. In most cases, we can come very close to an exact quote for Carpet, Upholstery, and tile, over the phone.
Q. I have a hybrid composite deck, its maintenance free… right? A. These are great products, but they still need the algae killed, and the dirt removed that appears and grows on the surface. Home Team is you're Best, souce for this. *(beware do it yourselfers, you can easily damage these surfaces as well).
Q. My deck looked great when it was new, now its grey, dirty and dingy. Is there anything that can be done to get that clean natural new look back? A. Yes. First, go to the web site www.HomeTeamEZ.com /Deckandfencecleaning You can see some pictures of decks and wooden fences before, during and after our cleaning process. The difference is pretty amazing. In most cases we are able to return the wood to a near new appearance. Our FACEBOOK page is a great way to see even more current photos, and information. Our process is safe and simple. We first apply an environmentally friendly cleaner, after a pre-determined dwell time. You can see the color beginning to change at this point, and we then use a pressure washer to carefully wash away the dirt and dead grey wood fibers. The difference is very apparent, depending on how dirty it is to start. Remember: wood is very soft, and the do it yourselfer can do a lot of damage unless they are trained how to clean without streaking or gouging the wood. Then you can choose to have us protect your investment with a sealer or stain or you have the option, once it is properly prepared of sealing the structure yourself. Q. The solid color stain on my deck is peeling and its only been on the deck a short time, (a) did the last guy do something wrong? (b) can I just touch this up? (a) Not necessarily, you may notice that the vertical surfaces are not peeling at all. Horizontal surfaces take an extraordinary amount of abuse, so its not uncommon for these areas to show wear first. Foot traffic, hot and cold temperatures, moisture, water pooling, ice, expanding and contracting, and uv damage caused by the sun, are all good reasons for the wear that you are seeing. Solid stains or paints are more likely to peal than semi transparent toners, or clear sealers. So no matter what this surface is going to need attention to maintain the structure. (b) If the surface is prepared properly it can be touched up. It may not match perfectly, but it is better than being left unprotected, and will certainly look better than bare spots, provided you are covering with the proper coating. Many stain manufacturers require the surface to be completely stripped, neutralized, and re-stained each time. We can easily determine what is right for you. If you have any left over stain from the previous job it is easier to determine what is right for your deck or fence. That is also one reason why I tend to recommend clear sealers as opposed to toners or solids.
Q. Ok we would like you to show us what you can do with our home, but we work, do we have to be home on wash day? A. Only about half of the homes we wash have the owners present. While it is good to see the difference during the cleaning process, it is not necessary. Ideally we would like to have you do a walk around final inspection with us after the job is complete, but in cases where you cant be there, we simply make payment arrangements. We kindly ask you to phone us if you have any questions or comments, even if it is simply an idea about how we might be able to better serve
Q. What forms of payment do you accept?
A. Visa, MasterCard, Check or Cash Accepted for your convenience Your Questions may be different than these please feel free to CALL we would like to hear your questions. If you dont get an answer PLEASE leave us a message clearly stating you contact info, and we will contact you asap. Home Team @ (269) 660-1820
